News Update

We have some exciting news to share with you, as well as some disappointing news. The latter first — we aren’t able to run the Fifth Avenue Mile after all. The team signup has already closed and the race is full. The good news is that this gives us more time to prepare for our next event — the Grete’s Gallop 1.7 Mile Run in Central Park on Oct 14.

In exciting news, Natalie Cash Petersson and John have been hard at work on some wonderful logos. We should have something to share with you shortly. We are also in the process of finalizing our application with the New York Road Runners program, which will bring many benefits to the team. More to come on that.

Below is a calendar of Five Points Runners events for the next couple of months. Please note the dates of two non-athletic calendar items: Our first Team Potluck Dinner Party on Sat. 9/29 (please email Michelle Thompson at teneta@aol.com if you did not get the invite or would like to invite someone to the party) and our next Planning Meeting on Sunday 9/30 at 1:30 pm. Both events will be at Hannah & John’s home.

If you have any friends who are interested in joining the team, please have them email Lydia & John for more information. We are also working on an info sheet that we can send around and give to local schools to pass out. (Likewise, if you would like to be removed from this email list, just let me know.)

Lastly, a few parents were talking about taking a short run of their own this Sunday morning, during the kids’ practice. If you’d like to join, just bring your own running shoes to the track, and the parents can take a jog on the East River Promenade while the kids do their own workout.

All the Best,

Coach Lydia & Coach John
